A more usable and efficient checkout systemThe Columbus Metropolitan Library is among the most-used and highest-ranked library systems in the country. In response to a marked increase in the use of their Self-Checkout Kiosks, the Library had an explicit desire to improve the patron experience with the system. Shift was engaged to develop a new interface and consult on the user experience model for the checkout process. In addition, the Library had recently undergone a rebranding initiative and this would be among the first digital extensions of the new brand. What was developed provided a clear visual language, focusing on tasks and moving patrons quickly and efficiently through the checkout process. Being rolled out throughout 2010, the experience is accessible to a diverse and growing population and tangibly brings to life the Library's new brand. |
